'Dressed to Kill and the Eponymous Vole' Fair Isle Knitted Little Owl
This impressive, and true to size, knitted Little Owl is the first one ever created by Audrey. It features a variation of Fair Isle Knitting unique to the maker and you can see the pattern repeated. It even has 2 "eyes" on the back of the head to mimic the clear markings on a Little Owl head designed to confuse and deter predators. The wire feet are cleverly positioned so that this bird is free standing and stable. She has a handmade beak and bright yellow button eyes. She is carrying a handmade tweed vole in her mouth, complete with wire feet and hands and wiry whiskers.
She has her own wooden plinth with a felted base to protect surfaces. Her unique poem is typed on the plinth and reads:
"Her indignant stare inspired the designer knitwear, but the vole concedes the irony of the hunting tweeds".
Approximately 22cm h (from head to claw) x 15cm w x 15cm d.
This is not a toy.
Made by Audrey Mackenzie.
