'Barn Bairn' Fair Isle Baby Barn Owl No.1

This is the first of three knitted baby barn owl designs created entirely from scratch.  It has been part machine knitted and part hand knitted in the Scottish Fair Isle style which can be seen clearly across the wings at the back.  Mohair and felt has been used to create its beautiful soft downy feathers and it also features a handmade wooden beak and wire feet and claws.  Its bright button eyes bring it to life and you can imagine it begging for food from it's mother! 
 
All Audrey's birds are accompanied by a poem and this one is located on the handmade wooden plinth, which has a felt base to protect your surfaces, and it reads:
 
The eyes could be by Botticelli,
But they are windows to the bottomless belly.
 
Approximately 17cm tall and 12cm wide.  Plinth is approximately 16.5cm x 12cm x 1cm.
 
Not a toy.  Not suitable for young children.
