Fair Isle Knitted Barn Owl 'The Bairn Raiser'

This impressive mother barn owl is created using a variation of Fair Isle Knitting unique to the maker. Beginning with a felted body over wire and finished with crochet and Fair Isle knitting. You will see the pattern repeated throughout the back and wings. The wire feet are cleverly positioned so that she is free standing and stable. She has a handmade beak and bead button eyes.
 
She has a handmade wooden plinth with a felt base and a poem which reads:
How does she manage to look her best with three hissing scruffs in the nest?
 
Approximately 24cm from head to claw x 21cm from front to tail x 13cm across.
