'The Barn Dancer' Fair Isle Baby Barn Owl No.3
This is the third of three knitted baby barn owl designs created entirely from scratch; a beautiful fledgling baby barn owl. This freestanding bird has been part machine knitted and part hand knitted in the Scottish Fair Isle style, which can be clearly seen all across the back of the wings, as well as crocheted using felt and mohair to give the effect of soft baby "feathers". It features wire feet and claws as well as a handmade wooden beak and bead eyes.
All Audrey's birds are accompanied by a poem and this one is located on the handmade wooden plinth, which has a felt base to protect your surfaces, and it reads:
Elementary aerodynamics are exactly the same thing as the Highland Fling.
Approximately 25cm tall and 20cm wide (at the widest point of the wings). Plinth is approximately 16.5cm x 12cm x 1cm.
Not a toy. Not suitable for young children.
Made by Audrey Mackenzie.
